What a busy start to our year! I have so much to tell you in this post.
- In February we had three students audition for the North Regions Honor Band. The journey to prepare for this audition takes months of hard work and dedication. I am so proud of the time, passion, drive, and endless care that goes into this adventure. We are honored to announce that one of our percussionists was awarded 1st chair in the North Regions Jr. Band. We are so proud of you all!
- If you remember my conversation about my djembe teacher Babatunde Olatunji. I spoke of the djembe he signed ,that I have in my studio (picture above), and the kindness and love in his soul (quote below with a picture of the two of us). I am honored to have been part of his life. (ps: yes, the bone in front of the picture is from a dinosaur - the leg of a Triceratops)
- Due to the new PARCC schedule, we are going to combine the two spring concerts into one night.
Both the 6 grade band and 7/8th grade band will perform on:
Thursday - May 12th at 7PM
Please let me know if you have any problems with this change.
I hope you are all having a great Spring and I look forward to seeing you all soon!
