As many of you know, I believe that music instruction is mainly about developing the brain, responsibility, dedication, devotion, creativity, innovation, and many other skills that go well beyond the music and help our students become great employees, leaders, and citizens. Music education is not about becoming a professional musician. Music education is about life!
As my students get older and think about majoring in music, I present them with the following question, "Is there anything else that you can imagine yourself doing in life? If the answer is yes, then major in that and have music as a second part of your life." It is very clear that Reed has chosen music as his passion! I am confident that he will succeed in life (whether in music or not) and add so much beauty to our world, both in music and soul.
I am starting a "Mug of Fame" in the BRMS music room. If you are a BRMS grad and have majored in music (during my time or before), please send me a coffee mug from your school with your name on the bottom and the year your graduated BRMS. I want to proudly display all the mugs for the students to admire. Reed's mug is going up on Monday!
Congrats Reed!!!
